I’m Cory Sanoy. I live in Calgary, where I design the future of human computer interface.

I’ve loved making things for as long as I can remember, and wrote my first program when I was 12 years old, just two weeks after my dad brought home the brand new Commodore Vic 20 that I taught myself to type on. In my tween years I strayed from computer and went down the music and sports path.

I attended University and had an affinity to Biology and Philosphy but Computer Science started to becon once more and I graduated with a BSc in Computer Science. I was once again drawn back into Computer Science. I liked the raw and logical creative power of programming computers. I was hooked again.

I consider myself a generalist and would work on anything that was leading-edge computer technology cutting my teeth on the lastest in programming languages and environments. Initially, I worked on backend server systems but also had opportunites to work on front-end user interfaces and new user experiences for computing devices such as interactive whiteboards, tablets and smart phones.

In my day job, I build large data systems and backend server products for companies like eBay and Ericsson. And more recently I have worked on cloud computing technologies such as Google cloud and Amazon Webservices. Enabling me to exercise many different aspects of computing from the highly scalable backend systems to the intricately detailed user experience of the front-end.

I’ve also built some novel user interfaces in gaming in a game called Ricochet which was a precursor to angry birds. I also had the opportunity to build an invisible interface for the SMART Board was a touch based user Interface for the SMART Board that only appeared when you need it.

Staying a generalist has enabled me to combine and integrate technologies from front to back in unique and novel ways. Being a generalist has enable me to design software that engages both logical and perceptual human reasoning and create software that transcends human cognition and approximates and emotional connection to between the human and the technology.

Today, I’m the founder of ListensSoft, where we’re working on a brand new way to interact with computer devices. It is a once in a lifetime event to be able to create a new user interface for computer devices and deploy it to the world.
